Well, they probably just realized that they were juuuuuuuust famous enough where they want a tighter lock down on their social media, which is smart. But... yeah, maybe don't message people out of the blue anymore? This almost never happens to me (because I'm not famous) but I'd be weirded out if someone I didn't know contacted me like that.

If you want to send fan mail, maybe find out who their agent is and if there's an official place to send it.
