I don't know anything about any of these video games but I want the context! What kind of character is Parvati, what kind of character are Ellie and Morrigan and Miranda Lawson, why do Ellie and Parvati dislike each other?

(Anonymous) 2019-11-17 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Parvati’s a kind, innocent, socially awkward nerd who wants to help everyone. Ellie’s a raider and mercenary who’s convinced that everyone is out for their own benefit. Morrigan and Miranda Lawson are characters from other games who fulfill the “advises the player to make morally questionable decisions” role.

Parvati likes Ellie, because Parvati likes almost everyone. Ellie doesn’t know what to make of someone who helps other people without expecting a reward, so she reacts with hostility. Parvati starts off trying to find common ground, but ends up just trying to get Ellie to make enough of a truce that they can work alongside each other.

Thank you! That's very interesting information. It also makes me curious whether anyone has written any fictional stories where possibly they argue with each other and then also start making out with each other, because it seems like a good idea, but that's a separate matter really.

Well, Parvati doesn’t really do physical contact . . .

(Yes, she’s yet another autistic-coded awkward nerd who also just happens to be asexual. I’ve gotten used to it at this point. At least she’s not Sheldon Cooper.)

Ah, well, yeah, that's slightly unfortunate, yeah.

you know you can be socially awkward without being autistic right. she doesn't even mind physical contact she just doesn't want sex

ngl on the second runthrough parvati was pretty grating. and i didn't even have her for that long because i was playing on supernova and she died super fast

I love Morrigan, though most of that is because I distinctly did not like fantasy styled gaming when I first played DA, and decided to play in the most ridiculous way possible while still staying true to my character. Morrigan was like my bff, it was awesome.
I only know Miranda's initial introduction, since I haven't fully played Mass Effect yet, but I doubt she can win me over since I already have a pretty bad opinion of her. I know some of her storyline, but I don't think it's enough to get over my first impression.

So long story short- this secret really makes me want to play this game because I am very interested in who this character is! Games have such a distinct line which I basically call 'The Anders Line', and I'm curious on which side she falls on.

Ellie is DEFINITELY not Anders.

That's a relief!

(Anonymous) 2019-11-17 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I might just play it then!

I like Ellie and dislike Parvati and Ellie’s dislike of the uwu precious smol bean asexual makes me like her more.

+1. What an aggravating character archetype that's becoming.
