Eh, I understand it to an extent. Some people invest a lot of time into something, and it really sucks when, say, the writers clearly drop the ball and worse, don't seem to care that they did.

Of course, I tend to gravitate toward fix-it fic when that happens, but I understand bad reactions if people have literally been waiting on something for years only to see it blown up with a turd bomb. It's not just having hopes dashed, it's being slapped in the face at the same time.
