I'm not sure I understand what your point is.

In real life obviously medicine > snuggling. But a hurt-comfort fanfic is not real life and has nothing to do with my own personal preferences for when I'm sick.

But it's not hurt/comfort fic, it's random fic in which stuff happens, and one of those things is someone getting sick.

Honestly snuggling makes me feel a million times better when I feel like that. Like yes, I physically feel like a festering pile of shit, but the dose of oxytocin at least picks my mood up a little bit.

I don't want to be touched when i'm sick, especially 'needing nyquil' sick - i just want to burrow and sleep and wake up and take more meds.

So just have characters snuggle after the sick one has been dosed to the eyeballs with cold medicine. I’m not a snuggler, but I would probably snuggle the person who brought me juice and tea and soup and meds while I was ill, if they wanted.

Sure, but ....they never are!! It's like they're supposed to feel better from the magical snuggle, but if you're going to go all in with descriptions of snotty tissues and flop sweat, then you better not give me magical snuggles.
