That's her playing Faith. She's got a new show coming up on FOX this January though: Dollhouse.

Well, it's a film not a show. It's called "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover" and it's about a violent London crime boss (Michael Gambon) and his wife (Helen Mirren) who cheats on him with a mild mannered book-seller.
It's all a bit disturbing (a girl gets a fork stabbed into her face, a guy has pages of his favourite books forced down his throat and up his nostrils, and the ending involves cannibalism), and it's supposed to be part jacobean revenge play part allegory on Thatcherism with some gender politics and violence-in-society stuff thrown in.

Entirely the wrong sort of thing to get all slash-fangirly about, no matter how creepy-cute certain of the Thief's henchmen are.

That sounds...very intriguing o.o I'm not sure if it's my kind of movie, since I get easily squicked out, but it sounds like an interesting concept, nonetheless :)

Something like that. It's just called "Mermaid," though.
Well, it's actually a totally different story with a totally different theme. It's infinitely better than that Disney wankage, too.

It's great because it tells its story with no words (other than little intermission-style text blocks that are all in Japanese but they basically just tell you what's going to happen next, so they're not important). It's one of the most bittersweet things I've ever had the joy of viewing.

I wish I could recommend it to more people without getting weird glares and stuff.
