Agreed. Also (not really the same, but I was reminded of it) it bothers me that the mere fact that Merida and Elsa don't have male love interests is enough to summon the legions of 'Is this the first G A Y Disney princess?' thinkpieces. Like, even if they're straight, they don't have to fall in love with the first schlub that passes through their field of vision. A girl can have standards.
Also, asexuality is a thing.

(But I would like there to be a gay Disney princess, I just don't think it's gonna happen any time soon)

Yes! With disney the relationships seem to always be instant true love with this dude I just met, too. Maybe they're focussed on other shit right now, like running a kingdom. Maybe they want to get to know people and just see where things go. Maybe they're just not interested.

I'd be down for a gay princess, but disney gets no woke points from me for ambiguity, and that seems to be their business model. Progressive enough for people to engage with things they want to be seen supporting, but not enough to anger the traditional christian family who make up a large part of their consumer base.

Not so much with their animation lines, but Disney is totally queerbaiting with their double standard between primary and secondary media.

SA: See also how stars with the tightest NDAs in the industry are apparently at liberty to discuss shipping, fanfic, and headcanons with the press.
