I HATE people who over-tag fics. My general rule of thumb is if the tags are longer than the summary, I won't even give the fic a shot. Tags are supposed to be a useful classification system, and having too many tags is not useful. All I want are: 1) "Gen" or pairing (the MAIN pairing only, unless another pairing plays a SIGNIFICANT role in the story), 2) Rating, 3) MAYBE Genre (e.g. AU) but that's not strictly necessary IMO, and 4) the most important warning tags (dub con, character death, etc.). Then, write an informative and enticing summary. That's IT.

I want to spend my free time READING fic, not slogging through tags.
