Omg same. I just don't get the appeal of that ship and I'm someone who isn't averse to shipping the dynamic fandoms tells me these two have... Like, even on a platonic level, I just can't imagine that either of them will ever like the other better than they like Yugi/Atem (Hell, Kaiba doesn't even respect Yugi half the time).

I'm just using Yugi/Yami as an example since he's the one person both of these characters interact a significant amount with.

... I wrote a lot of it, but for me it was predicated on a) the similarity of Jou's personality to Mokuba's, and b) my view of Kaiba as distant and antisocial because he's seriously broken emotionally. I never particularly cared for the version of Kaiba (which, to be fair was based on Season 0) as sexually aggressive super-seme, and Jou as a wilty uke: I preferred to cast Jou as the only person who'd call bullshit on Kaiba and not back down, and who'd also more often be the initiator.

But I totally understand people who can't see a JouKai dynamic at all, because there are ships in other fandoms (e.g., Stony) that I myself can't see at all. Live and let live; there's room in the harbor for all.
