(Anonymous) 2019-12-04 01:10 am (UTC)(link)And while I do kind of like some of the ones you mentioned, it can sometimes be difficult to work which characters they are for. There was Sparky for Sheppard/Weir of Stargate Atlantis that I never could quite figure out.
I guess I just like the straightforwardness of CharacterA/CharacterB.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)"One of the most popular names for the pairing is "Sparky," coined as a joke by Nos in the sheppard_n_weir yahoo group.[2] It caught on and is used unironically in many places. It is sometimes mistakenly attributed to a Joe Flanigan episode of Cupid, where he refers to Paula Marshall's character as "Sparky" after she admits to playing with batteries as a child."

Character A/Character B is much better.
Re: I'm not a huge fan of portmanteaus.
I agree with you though. The best way is to just use the characters' names.
