I’d take portmanteaus/namesmush over the idiosyncratic ship naming conventions I’ve seen in some fandoms, like Pokémon. It also makes searching tags for it a lot easier and the guess work on what to look up more limited. Like okay sometimes the ship name is stupid and sounds dumb but at least I know what I’m looking at when I see... idk narusaku as opposed to whatever the fuck ironwillshipping is in Pokémon.
