Sort of related.

When Anne of Green Gables (1985) aired in the US, I had such a crush on that Gilbert Blythe (Jonathan Crombie). I think it was 1986, so I was around 11 and the actor was 19. I just thought he was so pretty and engaging, I guess. And I thought he and Anne fit.

I was really sad when he passed away in 2015.

Related to this is the awkward feeling you get when you rewatched something from childhood and vividly remember being attracted to a preteen.

To me, he looks like a male version of Emma Watson. Can't unsee.

I could have written this secret. It's always a little weird when you realize your younger self would have been utterly in love with a young actor/character, but now they're well and truly off-limits.

Gilbert is like the Mr Darcy of tween girl literature. You may think the current actor (who is too young for you) is hot but your interest may be also based on years of mooning over other tv versions as well as the book version. Anne/Gilbert is a lot of people's first real ship (and they age to adulthood in the books too, so you grow up with them). It's kind of grandfathered in, I guess?
