115 - He's being written as awesome because Kubo forgot that he's supposed to be a monster - an entertaining and charismatic monster but a monster nonetheless. And I'll never forgive Kubo for not only letting him get away with what he did to Ishida (let alone Nemu) but even using him to character rape Ishida six ways from Sunday and degrade him into a comic relief. Damn you, Kubo. =_= [/wank]

130 - I'm sorry you haven't read really awesome "shippy" fanfic yet. I have and they were better than any genfic I've ever read.

153 - It must be pretty sad to be affected so much by cosplay. When I see bad cosplay I go "ouch" or "eww" then go on with my life. Also, what if they're embarrassing themselves? It's their problem. Why should I care?

115. I'm up to chapter 316, and to be honest, after seeing how much Uryuu has been awesome, the moments when Mayuri makes a fool of him hardly downplay it. In fact, I like it when his dorky side comes through.

My problem is with how Ishida reacted to Mayuri. Because yeah, I love his dorky side as well but Mayuri is most definitely not a person he'd ever by dorky around. The guy caused the death of the person Ishida loved and respected the most (thus gave him a lifetime's worth of guilt and other issues), then tortured Souken's soul to death. The last time they met, Ishida went as far as sacrificing his powers to kill him.

And when Mayuri arrives in Hueco Mundo and saves his ass (which must've been incredibly humiliating and disturbing) and it turns out that he'd been actually observed all along (further humiliation), Ishida's reactions are played for laughs. And then they do the manzai routine. What the hell. It's like doing comedy sketches with Ichigo and the Grand Fisher or Rukia and Arroniwhatever. Completely out of character (and tasteless to boot).

Well, Uryuu's reactions weren't entirely comical by themselves. He was appropriately shocked and angry to me. And well, he couldn't put forth much of a killing intent at that moment, with a few internal organs destroyed and all.
Mayuri... well, he just doesn't care.

Well, I don't know, if you just learned that the sick freak who tortured and murdered a person you loved and whom you hated enough to try to kill him not very long ago, had infected you with spy-bacteria (or whatever they were) would your first reaction be "OMG BUT WHAT ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS"? Or would you ask him if he was going to be okay after his sword broke in the fight?

Nah, Ishida was shocked for like two panels, and spent the rest of his scenes being dorky and played for comic relief. And internal organs busted or not, he was well enough to loudly freak out over everything, Renji even commented on it. It was incredibly OOC and, as far as I'm concerned, tasteless. At least that's how it came across for me.

Plus, while Isshin killed the Grand Fisher and Rukia avenged Kaien on whatshisname, I'm pretty sure that Mayuri will never ever get his comeuppance for what he did to Uryuu and Souken (let alone all those other Quincy he "examined"), and all the abuse he did to Nemu. Which is just sad to see in a WJ manga.

115 - Word to your response and the comments in the thread. It really bothered me that Ishida was just like "THAT'S AN INVASION OF PRIVACY!!!11!" and then it was promptly forgot about. I just hope that KT eventually works his way back to them and actually has Ishida DO SOMETHING because AFAWK, he still has the stuff in him that Mayuri can track him with.

Clearly you haven't read good genfic then.

Good genfic > good shippy fic, imo. But they're just so hard to find, because people think ship is the be all and end all.
