There are people with conditions making it hard to lose weight; particularly since doctors tend to ignore those problems in preference of telling them it is their fault. There is more than one way to have a physical failure in your body not of your own causing that makes you gain weight and many doctors will refuse to even look into it for patients, laying all the blame on them. It is a little hard to fight a failing body without curing it first and there are many people not even aware that they may have a physical problem as a reason.

Frankly being fat does not necessarily have to be unhealthy; you can be fat and be healthy. Automatically assuming someone with extra weight is unhealthy is just another excuse to make them feel bad about themselves and a misconception. It can lead to health problems, but it does not necessarily have to nor does it always.

Every case of overweight and underweight is individual to that person with numerous factors and generalizing those not of preferred weight under "the person is a slob who eats wrong and does nothing, but sit in front of electronics all day" or something is wrong. You may know several people like that, or you may not, but that does not extend to every overweight person on the planet.

Far as the OP, they were not saying dress appropriately, they were saying don't dress up and by extension that the OP frankly does not care to look at overweight people and is more than insulted when they dress in something the OP associates with slender.

I'm sorry, but you're being too vague for me. What conditions are you talking about? Environmental? Psychological? What "physical failures"? And I don't understand at all what you mean by "fighting a failing body."

Also, I'll agree with you that fat isn't necessarily bad all the time. But again, when I talk about being fat, I mean really fat. Maybe you're talking about the chubby I mentioned earlier? I don't claim to be an expert on health issues like obesity and I highly doubt you are one either, but I know having too much fat in certain areas of your body are worse than others. Just like being too skinny can have its consequences. Granted that wasn't either of our arguments... When I see bulging stomachs - especially in clothes that are a million sizes too small - I know they are not 100% healthy. I'm not going to argue about individual cases here because, frankly, who cares. We can talk in circles about this for days. In any case, calling someone unhealthy is not an excuse to make them feel bad. Just because something isn't immediately life threatening doesn't make it okay. My bad habits from today are my problems of tomorrow. Or whatever that saying is supposed to be like.

Also, I realize what the OP's message was. I disagree with it (people should be entitled to do whatever the hell they want (to an extent)). I was talking about the anon who posted immediately before me. The one who said, "There's a big difference between wearing clothes you look good in and clothes which make you look awful." That's the point I was agreeing with. Even if you're fat and you're okay with it, you will not look good in certain outfits that ARE made for someone who is more slender. It's a pet peeve of mine, when people try to pretend they are something they are not. Fat people are not skinny. That's the (redundant) bottomline.

Well if you consider the word physical in conjunction with in and body... Which would probably exclude half the things you said... There are people who lack enough or have excess of certain chemicals that can contribute to their weight paritcularly, as well as not all of a person's organs may function correctly or at a necessary capacity. I'm sure there's other bodily reasons, but those are some. And if you have a problem such as, say, with your thyroid gland, doctors can be very hateful about diagnosing you--even if you are aware that it might just be that (which many people would not be). Most people actually aren't born healthy, be it in mind or body--there's a lot more people off the "perfectly healthy" meter than there are those on it. That doesn't mean a large majority have it to such an impairing effect they're practically screwed, but it is still a fairly big factor.

Again, it may not be bad habits. And even if it is, a "bad habit" isn't necessarily something life threatening. It can be, but it doesn't have to be. An obsession maybe, but a habit, no. There are very few "100% healthy" people in this world. Being fat is just one of the easier, visable things, that might indicate someone has something seriously wrong like clogged arteries or some such. Might. Telling every fat person they're unhealthy based on this is ridiculous in my opinion. If the person is overweight to the point where it is blatantly obvious to be impairing them(such as poor mobility), I don't think it needs to be pointed out. They know. And they are either struggling to do something about it with whatever conditions that brought them to that point or they don't care. Also because a person is overweight doesn't mean they are continually gaining more and more weight everyday and never decreasing--they may in fact be very stable at that weight.

Isn't cosplaying pretending to be something you're not? I can understand not wanting to look at a certain aspect of someone and preferring it if they dress in a way that does not draw attention to it/accent it, but I don't think it should be a demand. I don't particularly enjoy seeing a skinny person who looks like a slob, but that's their freedom to do so. Same for overweight people. There are places that demand you meet a certain level of aesthetic pleasing (restaurants for example), but general public is general public. Long as no one's running around absolutely naked it is allowed by the law (at least in my country and some various others).
