Star Wars- myths/fantasy/scifi genre mashup. The mythic story arcs, the Force is a fantasy-like thing and the feel is very fantasy, but in a scifi setting.

I think a lot of the MCU is fantasy/scifi mashups, particularly the Thor movies and Doctor Strange.

Doctor Who is scifi/fantasy with probably every other genre thrown in at one point or another.

Magical realism + film noir/detective stories (Pushing Daisies, Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive... I know I had one more good example but I'm blanking on it right now :/)

Also, SciFi + horror and horror + comedy.

Yes to scifi horror. Alien (the first one only) and especially Event Horizon are amazing scifi/horror movies.

AYRT - Oh funny, I have Event Horizon queued up to watch this weekend since I haven't seen it yet! Alien is one of my favorites, too.

I rewatched it on Halloween. It is my favorite horror movie, no contest. It has so many elements I love. If you like Lovecraftian/Cosmic horror stuff, you'll probably like it. Plus, the cast is all great.

Space pirates!! Examples include Bodacious Space Pirates (on the nose, but it is a SUPER cute show), all the various shows/movies about Captain Harlock, and Rogue Galaxy, which may be one of my favorite video games of all time that no one's ever heard of, haha. Lilika is my wife forever.

Ooooo, I've not heard of the Ritual. I know what I'm going to be looking up tomorrow. Pan's Labyrinth is great, though. Fantasy and scifi horror are the best.

Okay, after looking it up, looks awesome and right up my alley, so going to see if the library has it.
