Sometimes I feel like I should do more networking on Twitter to promote my writing, and then shit like this happens, and I'm like, "... Actually, I'm good not talking to anyone here." It seems like everyone on Writing Twitter has super thin skin. :/

It's definitely hit-or-miss. There are people who are like this and people who aren't. Maybe 55/45 split. Like anything else, you just have to be selective about who you follow, who you mute, who you turn off retweets for.

Authors on twitter have to remember that they're brands.

If you say that Target sucks as a store, [personal profile] target is not going to say, "Hey, fuck you, critic!" They ignore it unless it's something that they can fix.

That goes for replying to Amazon reviews, goodreads, whatever. Twitter is really no different in terms of "let the criticism go."

You really would think that after hustling past the wall of rejection slips that authors would understand that they're not going to get universal acclaim and acceptance onto every reading list by now.

Ha! Definitely not. Some writers are super sensitive, logic has nothing to do with it.
