Not really related, but more authors behaving badly

[personal profile] feotakahari 2019-12-08 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I read the blog for an author called Joy Demorra. Some people on Twitter were talking about another author called Luca Franco, and Joy said “Always going to be a good time when the top review title is ‘what the fuck is this’.” No other comments on the subject matter; no further engagement. Then Joy started getting spammed with all sorts of negative comments about her writing and her moral character. She thinks Luca put out the call for some Anne Rice-style harassment.

Which backfired pretty dang hard, because Luca’s stories are wildly unsafe for work and sanity, and they got pulled from Amazon after someone complained. I can’t say I care much for content restrictions, but she’d gotten a fairly long series on there before she picked fights. Maybe don’t assume you can stomp on people without them stomping back.

(You can look up Luca’s books if you really want. I’m not even going to talk about the content involved.)

LOL... Honestly, Demorra's remark was funny and it's only pointing out what someone else said. This is a classic example of writers with really thin skins.

Honestly, "what the fuck is this" kind of makes me want to read a thing more, out of curiosity.

Yeah. It's not even bad publicity, per se. Franco should've kept their mouth shut and enjoyed the extra traffic.

Right? I might not read it, but I'd at least take a look.

I think Franco's the one who wrote the book about a 15 year old gymnast getting into a relationship with her 30 year old coach and it was marketed as a romance
