Re: Sarah Dessen novels and anyone who's read them...

Her newest one, The Rest of the Story, is pretty good IMO. I was a fan of her books in my early teens, but grew out of them after high school. They’re a little formulaic, but ultimately fun and breezy reads. The basic formula is girl has a problem, meets a cute guy with another problem, and they fall in love as they work through their respective problems, usually over a summer. Mind you, people were kinda pissed when she deviated from the formula, so I guess that’s why she’s stuck with it. For her other books, the only ones that have held up for me are The Truth About Forever and This Lullaby.

I was coming to rec This Lullaby, so +1. I know I read a lot by her when I was a teen, but that's the one that stuck with me.

That one stuck with me too, even though I really didn’t like Remy when I first read it. She grew on me each time I reread the book and I really like her now.
