That's bullshit though, the film had more than enough money to ensure proper housing for the horses. Stabling has been around for so long, that unless they were cutting corners things like this shouldn't be such a problem. I'm also iffy on the horse who fell off a cliff. Like, horses will stop themselves when they see a drop like that, it could have just been the horse's fault sure, but same as you would put in precautions to keep the actors from accidents like that, there should have been something to keep the horses and other animals safe as well.

I'm guessing the stunt doubles didn't get much more in the way of safety precautions than the horses did, to be honest.
