If people burn to death in the movie, I'm fully prepared to accept that it wouldn't be funny. It looks like it's a fairly typical family comedy set in a fire station.

And a fire station can be serious, but that doesn't mean that it can't also be portrayed in a way that's light and funny, either. How many comedies are there about police, for Pete's sake?

Yet another NAYRT and I can actually think of another movie with a comedic fire department, Roxanne, that has Steve Martin as modern Cyrano de Bergerac—and a fire chief—and I’m sure there’s more. I mean, Hitler was horrifying and The Producers is still funny as hell. I don’t think exempting topics from comedy is a good idea.
