147: I'd say that Yakitate Japan fits in the same genre as Naruto and bleach, though (I haven't read the other two). Maybe you could all watch One Piece together? It's both crazy and epic.

Not that I've actually seen that complaint - all the criticism I've seen concerning the epilogue have only been about how badly executed it was, and how formulaic the couples were. Most slashers I've actually talked to generally wished for no couples in the epilogue.

(Anonymous) 2008-11-01 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)I hate the heterosexual coupling-off of every character and their fictional sister in the epilogue and the post-DH interviews because of the way they close down the potential for canon-compliant shipping which is not the heterosexual marriage model.
I'm gay. God knows, there are few enough gay characters in our fiction even still. So those of us who aren't het are obliged to work outside the box and identify with the characters we think might potentially be like us.
I'd argue that one of the reasons HP is so damn huge a fandom is because JKR created so many characters with which people can identify. Everyone in fandom's got their own favourite character[s] onto whom they project their fantasies. For those of us who are queer, those fantasies aren't one twu hetero love. So it's damn frustrating - in a text where we've found so many gaps where we can read against the grain and see the characters as family - to suddenly have all those avenues shut down by an epidemic of mandatory heterosexuality, much of which seems enormously gratuitous.
