since when was Wilson ever a shitty oncologist? or are you just speaking ill of oncology in general?

Aside from Hosue's "boy wonder" oncologist line, Wilson is not shown to be a really good oncologist. In season 4, he gave a patient a misdiagnosis, in Skin Deep, he missed seeing a pair of testicles on (I think) an MRI scan, and in general he is seen as being a less great doctor than House.

But every doctor on the show is a lesser doctor than House.

(Truthfully, I think the boo-boo in "Skin Deep" belongs to the writers, and not to Wilson. A real doctor could not possibly have missed something so obvious - or so we'd hope.)

I agree, everybody around House has to be an idiot for the premise to work, but you could (as I assume OP was) take all those moments and make a case against Wilson's medical acumen. (He also failed at being House-for-a-day in Airborne.) And let's not even bring up the ethical issues from House Vs God.

Actually, Wilson didn't notice that the girl didn't have a uterus ... on an ultrasound, I think?

Nope, though I'm willing to more blame the writers for that one. I'm more alarmed by speed with which Wilson's patients die.

I'm not ready with any statistics, but I think being an oncologist would be more likely to put you in that situation. It also sets up all the canon/fanon for Wilson suffering over the deaths of his patients. I do think it would have been nice for Wilson to solve the case in Airborne when he was being Faux-House, although I'm always happen when Chase figures it out, so I was ok with that.
Presumably Wilson's great strenth is as House's "inspiration" more than any great skills he might have as a doctor.

I've often wondered why he never tried to become a therapist, considering that he really seems to like doing that. I guess you earn more moolah as a cancer doctor.
