This. If you don't like trans headcanons, there's the entire rest of the internet to explore.

Except when you literally get dogpiled for using the "wrong" pronouns

Everyone has the right to peacefully enjoy a fandom and not get their throats torn out over headcanons

I just want to point out that the secret doesn't really mention dogpiles, and the way that the secret is written seems like it's objecting to people having transheadcanons - "Women have to perform their gender stereotype to be considered women" - not about people being nasty about those headcanons.

It definitely reads to me like they think that there's a problem with the headcanons themselves, that the popularity of trans headcanons for non-traditionally-feminine women characters hurts cis women in itself. But I don't know what they really meant or had in mind.

This stuff usually goes beyond headcanon, though.

I've seen people insist that other characters who dress as the opposite sex for plot reasons are OBVIOUSLY trans and get really shitty when people point out that no, they aren't. They don't view it as headcanon, they act like it is FACT.

Well yeah, and there are idiots who will start flamewars over whether Han shot first.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-13 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that depends on the version, doesn't it? ;)

Wow, way to ignore non-traditionally gendered cis-women. I mean, speaking as a cis-woman who looks like a man and constantly gets misgendered for my low speaking voice and hairy face and what have you, I don't think people get that identifying as female and looking female aren't the same thing but you don't have to be trans or NB for that to be true.
