I'm not scared of it in the slightest because I don't believe it exists. I think that when we die, we simply stop existing, which I don't find all that terrifying either because it would be like going to sleep but then just never waking up.

What scares me about death is not death itself or any of the things surrounding it, but the idea that I might die before I accomplish all of the things I want to do in my life. I'm not scared of dying, I'm scared of dying without doing everything I want to while I'm alive.

I’m another atheist, but I’m terrified of dying both because I can’t imagine being bored with life unless I was suicidal (I have been, but not recently), and because the “like going to sleep and never waking up” explanation isn’t a perfect fit; sleepers dream. When I’m asleep, I don’t cease to exist, my brain just shows me random mostly nonsensical vignettes until I wake up again. Corpses just rot. Obviously there won’t be a “me” around to care by that point, but my brain still insists that nonexistence is worse than a neverending nap.
