To me, the later movies feel like fanfic to me--not in the "not canon" sense, but in the sense that each writer has a different focus and different interpretation of the character. I can see how that can be fun and interesting for some people, but for my tastes, fic that doesn't seem in-character isn't fic I like, you know?

Some of my favorite characters because my least favorite in later movies, for instance, because of how they were handled. It was disappointing.
