My empathy is with, y'know, the child they murdered.

Not going to deny that raising a child with Autism is tough. It's hard as hell to raise a neurotypical kid, never mind an Autistic one. We live in a deeply ableist society that will fight tooth and nail before providing any kind of support to individuals with disabilities, forcing parents to bear the financial burden and stress with almost no help from society as a whole.

That said. It's still wrong to murder your child. I can't believe this needs to be said, but such is the world we live in. One last repeat for the road: it's wrong to murder your child.
