The Laff TV channel was showing episodes of that show this past summer, but sadly they've stopped. I did save some of them to my DVR, though.

I liked this show, too. It was fun and had a good cast. I very clearly remember the episode where they did that Full Monty spoof :p.

Pretty sure they have had a LOT of trouble getting it syndicated or on DVD because of music rights. WB is too cheap to buy them all. :/

I've been interested in this because I like Carey a lot. My issue is that I'm scared because the cast pictures lead me to believe there is a plus size woman as well as Drew himself as a plus size man. And given the way media treats such women generally, I'm scared the show will treat her differently than Drew and that her weight/looks are seen as something to mock or that she's not worthy of a partner whereas Drew is just a normal guy who is attractive to (skinny) women.

The interesting thing is that while there were sometimes jokes about Mimi (the plus sized woman, played by Kathy Kinney) it was often in a give-and-take kind of way where she'd snark at Drew and he'd snark back.

There's one amazing episode where Drew had to hire a new personal shopper for the store and had the two finalists work with Mimi as a last test. Mimi's look after the first shopper was what most would think of as a "normal woman's outfit"- traditionally applied makeup, beautiful outfit that accentuated certain curves and hid others- and she looked (to the average person's eyes) quite beautiful while the other shopper's result was kind of garish in comparison - overly bright, atypical makeup and hat and kind of (to most people's consideration) generally weird. But Drew decided on who to hire by asking Mimi which outfit she liked better and she gushed how the latter made her look beautiful and no one said differently, she liked it and so that was fine, and he hired that shopper.

Um. If I'm remembering correctly, you're pretty much spot on except that Carey was the target of fat jokes, too.

Mimi was awesome! She gave as good as she got. She totally gave no fucks. She was a great workplace antagonist.

Kathy Kinney (the actress who played Mimi), from what I understand, is still friendly with the entire cast.

I just love Drew Carey. Right at the ugliest periods of #metoo unveilings of gross I clicked on a "what you didn't know about Drew Carey!" link in trepidation...and found out he was an ex-marine. That adorable teddy bear of a man could kill you with his thumb and he chooses to make you laugh.
