That's a big issue with Ten for me. I didn't mind it as much with Nine. Nine felt damaged to me, and it made sense that he'd grow attached to the person who helped him heal from the Time War. I never saw it as love, and they didn't force it as much as they did during 10's run. Also, she had more chemistry with 9 anyway, and she didn't start growing truly annoying for me until 10. She brought out good things in 9 where she brought out the worst in 10 (and vice versa).

I'm pretty sure Eccleston didn't see it as romantic either, which might have been part (just one small part) of why he quit.
