You're making a lot of assumptions about people's beliefs about their own writing.

nah, there are a lot of mediocre writers in fandom who really think they're the bee's knees and love to complain about every tiny thing in a canon, when they're not all that great themselves. or they're writing self-indulgent twaddle and believe that=genuine writing talent.
