Sometimes, you're gonna meet awesome people in the fandom who can be severely un-awesome in some way or another -- you just gotta decide whether it's so bad that it's totally off-putting, or if you can and want to embrace them with all their faults. (: Totally admitting that her criticisms of you are retarded. (Though what she's doing isn't so bad; she's doing it for fun just like everybody, so meh. They just have the sort of body type (and face type) that you're attracted to. No big deal. But decide what sort of personality you're attracted to as well. Don't turn away someone you could really love forever just because they don't look like your ideal, and you'll be fine.

not!secret, your last line made me lol whether it's true or not (also, that's hot); too big!secret, it shouldn't be too hard for you to find slash/shounen-ai/yaoi fic and art that isn't rated R or NC-17? Just tell people you don't mind the porn but it does nothing for you, and ask for good reccs and good conversation along those lines.
