thought we saw anya get flatted by a pile of bricks while pushing andrew to safety ("she died saving my life" etc)

You are right. I'd forgotten they'd shown it briefly and thought all we had was Andrew telling the others. I'd still argue that it was too short a scene for such an important character, though.
