Yeah, I said in my request that it was fine if they wanted to do an AU (this particular fandom lends itself well to AUs, and the one I got last year was fantastic), but I didn't specifically ask for one, and I never said anything about crossovers either way. The universe the fic is set in is from a cult classic film, but one I've never seen and don't own or have access to, otherwise I'd just watch it and then read the fic again, this time with context. Again, though, the author clearly had fun writing it and put a lot of work into it, and I don't want to shit on their efforts just because I didn't always know what was going on.
