I'm not a member, but I shall snark. :D

4. I know exactly who this is about and I think it's hi-larious. Not because of the person it's about, but because of the person who wrote it ... it's a little too obviously, sorry, because everyone else knows who it is, too. ;)

12. I totally agree. I knew exactly who it was as soon as I looked at it, and I don't even know her personally.

[identity profile] findingbeauty.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 01:18 am (UTC)(link)

No earthly idea. I meant that everyone knows who it's about. >_> It could have been made by any number of people, I know she's made lots of enemies among Reno/Rufus fangirls.

(Damn them, Rude/Reno is like canon, man.)

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 01:27 am (UTC)(link)

It amuses me because it's been over a year now and people are still offended by it. Apparently they didn't realize that I frequent this place and two of the three mods are friends of mine. Go figure.

Dude that was the best fandom war I was ever a reckless soldier in. I'd do it all over again just for the lulz.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 01:37 am (UTC)(link)

It was. I raised more chaotic hell in there with one comment than most fangirls do in years. And it was all done unintentionally. I didn't realize that the fandom had reduced itself to a bunch of inbred fangirls who got involved if someone said something that upset their friend. It wasn't even a malicious comment, either ... it was just a fact because during that time in the fandom all I was seeing come out of that place was RenoxRufus porn. For about a month straight that was all it was, and it all read the same. And it was bad.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 01:58 am (UTC)(link)

I wish I still had the comments. Sadness.

[identity profile] shahni.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind seeing wank like that again. It'd be like Jerry Springer. All staged. :D

I'm totally wish I'd been there. Brittney tells me about it and I'm like DAMN. I missed something AWESOME. Especially since I don't like Reno/Rufus myself, but that's only because people just.. CHARACTERISE THEM badly in that pairing. D: I bet Case could write something believable with them.

[identity profile] shahni.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I never said you didn't. But can you write teh porns with them IC? :D

It followed this incident where some stupid fangirl had traced one of my TsengxRufus pieces and posted it without any indication that she had copied my work ... and some fangirls supported her because they liked the pairing. They were all, 'Well, I still like it' nevermind the fact that it was ripped.

I was all, 'WTF, mate? When did Tseng become Reno?' I think what made it most offensive was the fact that my art didn't suit her tastes so she thought to copy it and insert Reno instead and pass it off as her own. And so it kind of put me in a sour mood as far as the pairing goes. I'm usually to each their own ... but when I used to get on a near daily basis following the Japanese release of AC comments on my dA account such as, 'Nice, but I wish it was Reno there instead of Tseng.' I started getting the tiniest bit annoyed because it was if I owed those stupid fangirls something and should cater to their wants.

It's funny, because the real wank was started by the girl whose fic I had commented on when she decided that a nice constructive discussion about newer fans ruining the fandom completely against what I had advised since I knew it would turn into all out war. People got pissed, the post got deleted by the girl ... and then things gradually got nasty. I think because I was one of the only active prominent members at the time speaking my mind it was easy to pick me out from the rest of the crowd or something. I honestly dunno. I mean, there's my side of the story which is pretty civil and low key and there's what happened. I can't believe fanpersons still give a flying fuck after over a years time.

Actually ... I'll bet the fics that caused this shit are still up there. I'd suggest backtracking to late December 2005 and check out any RenoxRufus postings on there. I swear they're still up there ... I just don't really care to dredge them back up.

[identity profile] shahni.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
I have a faint recollection of that incident! It actually annoyed me too, because that was blatant art theft! But yeah, I've gotten those sort of comments too and I just say, "Well, if you want it so much, draw it yourself. :3 That's what I'm doing."

The more I hear of that incident, the more I'm glad I missed it. *dies* And augh, I'd rather not. I seriously dislike Reno/Rufus fanfiction enough to like.. quickly scroll over the page if I see the pairing listed there. *dies* Art I can look at, but.. writing.. no. *dies* Depending, really.

and two of the three mods are friends of mine.

that's comforting.

so much for anonymity in this place. glad I haven't posted anything here. I'd hate to think now the mods can't be trusted to maintain that anonymity.

[identity profile] degrees.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa, wait! Just because she's friends with them doesn't mean that they're going to tell her anything. Trust me when we say that we're dedicated to being as anonymous as we possibly can. Besides which, we ask that the secrets be posted via anonymous comments, therefore we can't really match secret with person as long as you don't use a website that has your name on it!

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 01:24 am (UTC)(link)

It just proves that my comments got under people's skin. ^____^

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, maybe I won't ask the author of a particular Reno/Rufus fanfic I've been following why she MUST have them have passionate (and a wee bit violent) sex EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER.

Somehow I now have the feeling my question wouldn't go over too well.

But really...every chapter? When the story does actually have a plot?

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 02:31 am (UTC)(link)

It was actually more of a one-shot in which Reno responded to every word Rufus said with, 'Let's fuck' or 'I'd rather fuck you' or something of the sort. And this fic was one of many within a month or so in which everything posted read the same that dealt with them. So I offered my criticism on how they should add more plot to their fics instead of writing mindless porn, which was actually quite polite and intended to be helpful ... and the original author took it very graciously. And then her friends saw it and dragged it into the depths of fandom hell. It was glorious.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)

I actually have a clue ... it should have been obvious, but I initially didn't make the connection. >_>
