We have learned that less of the fandom actually likes her than people thought.

Dunno, most of the Dany stand I knew, including me, just washed their hands off the whole thing? I simply don't want to think about it anymore and writing fix-it fics would require to do so. I just don't care anymore.
(I also think that she was massively more popular in the general audience who didn't think more than a few minutes about the things she said/did and what they might mean, than she was in the fandom who analysed everything)

Okay, but what if I don't want her to have the throne because I think she would be a terrible ruler?

+1. Her whole Essosi storyline is meant to show specifically how unsuited she was to ruling. A good conquerer and warlord, but a terrible queen who never once managed to bring stability and peace to any place she went to.

Exactly. I think her ultimate fate was fitting because she would never have been able to be a good queen and would no doubt have ended up doing a ton of damage instead, so I feel like asking for a fix-it fic where she becomes queen is missing the entire point of her character.

Unless, of course, it's a fic about her being a terrible queen, in which case I could get behind that.

Hard same. Rulers who think they have the automatic moral high ground are deeply dangerous.

There are a lot less GOT fix-it-fics in general than I expected. Ships and stans, it's like s8 killed any care or concern everyone had before. I'll still read some shipfic but don't enjoy talking about the show at all and it's pretty rare anyone mentions it anymore except to say the ending was almost as bad/as bad/worse than Lost.

I would try if I weren’t so scared of the GOT fandom. I don’t know enough about the lore to do it. But a story with her rightfully ruling the kingdom would have been more satisfying.
