I'm curious to see if, too. As much as I enjoyed the animated version, I'll just consider this one a completely different thing.

I'm considering it a completely different thing too and hoping I'll like it better than the other Disney live action movies.

Yeah, it seems much less like a remake of the animated movie, but a more faithful retelling of the legend the animated movie was based on. So looking at it that way, I think I will enjoy it a lot-- I grew up with wuxia films and I love stories about filial piety, especially with a female protagonist, since most are about sons.

It wont replace the animated version for me, but it's not really meant to. (I will miss the songs, though, I admit)
