The tweet was polite and also transphobic. People are reacting to the fact that it was transphobic, not to the perception that it was impolite. Reacting to transphobia and calling it transphobic is not inappropriate.

No one should receive death or rape threats. On the other hand, receiving death or rape threats doesn't make you right, or not a bigot. And frankly, it's a sad fact but at this point it seems like most online controversies involve rape threats or death threats of some kind or other regardless of the communities involved.

I really disagree that acknowledging biology as fact is transphobic in and of itself.

I do agree that it's sadly very common for anything and everything to be met with a disgusting response on the internet.

Saying specific words about biological sex being real is not transphobic in and of itself.

The context and the underlying meaning makes it transphobic - in my opinion, really clearly and unmistakably so.

"I should get to misgender someone whenever I want because PERSONAL BELIEFS" is transphobic.

'I should get to claim that gender is nothing but also that you need to pretend I pass and calling me by my real name is hate speech' is ridiculous, so.

Whether or not someone passes shouldn't matter. Pronouns aren't like calling red hair red hair; they're not defined by how something looks. And a trans person's real name is the one they've taken, and 99% of the time, legally changed it to. So yeah, misgendering and deadnaming is transphobic.

So I guess if my friend Jonathan just wanta to be called John now, it's bullying if he has to point that out to people a few times? Because his REAL name is Jonathan.

What is the point of "acknowleding biology as fact" though? Do you talk to people only after scanning their DNA or do you go by the name/titles given when you're introduced to them?
