That's totally cool, agree to disagree though. I think he believes in the the First Order more than hates Kylo, and also he hates the Ressitance more than Kylo. He does hate Kylo.

Sa

But it's not the First Order anymore, it's the Final Order, and Hux has seemingly been sidelined even more by General Pryde. And...

SPOILER ALERT, just in case!

... he's willing to spy for the Resistance and actually admit out loud that he's doing it just to spite Ren. I believe his exact line was "I don't care who wins, I just want Kylo Ren to lose!"

Have you even seen the new movie? Hux explicitly says that he became a spy because he hates Kylo Ren that fucking much. He doesn't care which side wins or loses as long as Kylo Ren loses.

I agreed with philstar22. Being a spy for the Resistance was extremely OOC for Hux.

Nah.

Because it’s OOC for Hux to have enough of a personality to be a spy? Otherwise, it’s a stretch to say anything was OOC for the Hux we got in the first two films.

I saw it. I just think it is OOC. Yes, Hux hates Kylo. But he believes in the First Order and what it stands for more. He first and foremost believes in control and power and a strong central government. We see that in TFA. He hates the Resistance and all it stands for. That hate is also stronger than his hate for Kylo. He hates Kylo primarily because he thinks Kylo is disordered and bad for the First Order. He thinks Kylo is going to ruin things for the First Order. So him spying for the Resistance just because of his hate for Kylo makes no sense to me. I get that you disagree. This is just my opinion.

This might be apparent to people who have viewed the supplemental material; as someone who has only viewed the films I have to disagree that much of ANYTHING was clearly shown about his character other than him liking to shout a lot, hating Kylo Ren, and being susceptible to phone pranks.

The movie i.e. the canon shows pretty damn clearly that he hates Kylo Ren more than he believes in the FO. If it goes against the fanon Hux you've built after the two previous movies, tough luck. What we got in canon is a guy who really fucking hates Kylo Ren and would watch the FO and the Resistance burn if it meant that Kylo burns too.

You seem really invested in getting everyone to agree your opinion and interpretation is the right one. I see TROS as contradictory to what came before. I'm not trying to force you to share my opinion, but that is mine.

Don’t let them get you down. You’re allowed to imagine any headcanons for Hux you want and pretend they’re real. He was pretty much a blank slate in the first two movies, and obviously that resonated with you in a way it doesn’t with most other people. I’m glad you found a character that you related to, and I’m sorry that the last movie didn’t validate the personality you created for him.

Canon Hux: I hate Kylo Ren more than anything in the universe. I sided with the Resistance because my hatred for Kylo Ren is stronger than my hatred for them.

Your fanon Hux: "He hates the Resistance and all it stands for. That hate is also stronger than his hate for Kylo."

I know that is canon. I believe it contradicts Force Awakens and Last Jedi. I'm done with this. I don't know why you keep wanting to press. I'm not going to change my opinion, and I don't have to. Different people interpret things differently, and not everyone is going to love everything on screen. Lots of people thought Last Jedi's Luke was not in-character. How is my opinion that TROS Hux wasn't in character any different? At this point we're just repeating the same stuff. you keep your opinions, I'll keep mine.

I’ve watched the first two movies and your Hux isn’t in them. Is he in the novels? He sounds a lot more interesting than the movie Hux, so I’d like to know where you found him.

Yes, he's in the movie novelizations for sure. But I also personally see him in TFA the movie. Different people interpret differently, why is this so hard for you to grasp?

And some people seem to see things that aren't there!
