It was also boring and took itself way too seriously.

Thundercats might have made more of an impression on me than I thought, because my first thought upon seeing this was "Why did they make Lion-o a twink?"

I remember when this was airing and the fandom lost their minds that Cheetara rejected Lion-O

Well, that sure wasn't my biggest complaint about it.

("Inventing a love triangle that wasn't in the original at all, and shoving their One Adult Female Character in the middle of it" was way higher on the list.)

...it's been long enough that I don't remember all the details, mostly just the overwhelming sense of wasted potential.

I'm a fan of the original series but I didn't even know this existed.

I don't really like the art style. And after looking it up, I'm not sure I'd like the changes made to the characters.

Anyone here watch it? Was it any good?

I liked parts of it (architecture, focus on different parts of cultures, connecting Grune with Panthro, the love potion being about finding beauty in things instead of 'I love x now') but overall it left a sour taste in my mouth. Seemed to think mature = racism, violence, and broodiness, a lot of characters giving Lion-O a hard time and later reading one of the writers basically inserted himself as Tygra, the flashbacks were more interesting than the 'get the magic rocks' plot, the sound effects and music drowned out the dialogue too often, the writers' plans to have Lion-O marry Wilykit...

The two pilot episodes were the show at its best, from what I remember. Maybe the ep about Tygra's backstory and the ep with the plant people.
