I think most people that have duel monster as their favorite yugioh series never watched the other series.

I mean, yeah, truth here, but I'm pretty sure that reading the synopsis "dueling school" and "card games on motorcycles" was good enough for me to determine that I would not enjoy the other two.

and let's not even get started on "card games with alien ghosts" and whatever else came after that.

I’ve watched all the other ones, but Duel Monsters is still my favorite.

You can't tell me that the Shadow Realm and mystical ancient Egyptian artifacts don't make it the best of the series.
Besides the creator only wanted to make a self inserty ancient Egyptian story, the card games were even supposed to be a part of it, but the people in charge thought they could make money on the card game angle so that's what it became.

The rest of the series is just meh to me.
