As long as you're not Scottish, and you're not excessively well versed in Scottish history, you should be fine. Most of the historical inaccuracies can be ignored otherwise - I've only noticed people who were one of those two getting pissed off about the books or the series.
I'm just a little bit of a history nerd, and I'm okay with it? So, yeah. Personal preference.
