New Year's Resolutions

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have any? Did you have any for this year, and if so, how did you do with them?

My NYR is to start telling people when their responses to me talking about my chronic pain are unhelpful so that they hopefully stop saying it in further situations. “Oh, you’re too young to be dealing with that!” So fucking consoling, thank you.

My resos for this year were mostly weight related. And they failed. My depression curbstomped me BAD.

This year, my resolutions are a bit different than a weight number to hit. This year my goal is to stay on keto for the year. Don't set a weight goal, just stick under my calorie count and stay keto. I know I'll lose that way but I won't be as obsessed with the number on the scale.

Other goals are 'plz. just. write more'.

And pay of debts. I've done my budget up and I should be out of credit card debt by August! My consolidated loan I'm not worrying about this year. It'll be gone in three years at the worst, so I want to get rid of my card debt and get a bit of a savings/emergency fund going since I'm currently SOL if anything out of the ordinary happens.

My new year's resolutions are pretty low key - I've got a list, and I want to tick off as many things on that list as I can each day. Take my meds, do some exercise, do some art, that sort of thing. Just a little effort every day.

Oh yeah, almost forgot - I want to do a little travel in my state, because I never go anywhere and I want to see some of the tourust attractions we have.

I want to lose weight and ideally I'd like to try working out at least 30 minutes every day, even if it's just yoga.

I want to lose 20 more pounds instead of just maintaining my weight. I want to learn some kind of skill, preferably one that could help me get a remote job. I also want to find some people to play board games with. And of course, work more on my baking and crocheting.

Same resolutions as every year, James - finish my studies, find love, solve world peace, and lose five pounds ;)

Mine are the same very year (write more, lose weight, save more money), but I’m adding a new one: learn how to play guitar. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play, but we couldn’t afford lessons when I was younger. I can now, but I’m gonna save up first for a good guitar and then find a good teacher. I did do more writing in 2019, but I wanna actually finish something in 2020.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to stick to it for a year, so I didn’t ingest any sugar/honey/added sweeteners in January 2019, and didn’t gain energy, lose weight, or see any positive (or negative) effects. I have managed to walk 1.4 miles a day over last year’s record, which was 5.1 miles/day. This year I’ve done an average of 6.5 miles/day, or 2372.5 miles total this year. I am, if anything, slightly fatter now than I was in January. But if my doctor tells me I can’y possibly be exercising enough I can probably kick his legs from under him with my “walked 2,300 miles” legs and sit on him with my “are you sure you’re not pregnant?” body.

My 2020 resolutions are to call at least one congresscritter (mine are democrats so it’s not as crucial, but I need to work on my phone phobia), keep up the walking, eat more veggies and fruit, work more on my garden, and make at least one non-work friend.

I don't really have any specific ones, in the "unrealistic things I will never do" way, mine's just to learn and grow and be the best person I can be.

Idk... there's something I've been putting off that I need to take care of and I hate it. I just wish a miracle would happen to make it easier, because I'm tired of it being back there in the back of my mind. (I'm being vague on purpose.)

I didn't really have any resolutions for last year.
