She was a pretty terrible character though, tbh. Like, she basically had to harass Hero into doing anything with her, like him tearing her birthday invitation apart right in front of her while saying that he hated her, was just as much reason that people didn't like her along with getting into the way of the gay.

So you only watched the first episode. Got it.

ayrt

Actually, I watched several random episodes, which included the first episode. There was definitely an intense hatred for Relena, but not all of it was unfounded.
First episode or not, it's still a rather intense scene to show how much he initially despised her. The character development can only go so far when it's specifically very one-sided in most every way.

"I wAtChEd SeVeRaL rAnDoM ePiSoDeS"

Nostalgia Critic, is that you?

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
You don't understand nonchalance, do you?

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
I do. Do you understand mockery?

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
I do, and that wasn't it.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody has to prove anything to you.

Someone doesn't like what you like. Deal with it.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
For the record, ayrt wasn't the person who previously replied.

Also, I don't think anyone has to prove anything to me. But I'll damn sure mock anyone who acts like they have a solid understanding of something they only watched a few episodes of. Deal with it.

How many episodes must they watch before they're officially allowed to dislike it, your majesty?

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Who said anything about disliking a show?

Are you confused? You appear to be having a completely different conversation here.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
When did he say he hated her?

All I remember is him saying he'd kill her. Which can happen out of (perceived) necessity, whether or not hatred is present.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, when you threaten to kill someone when you first meet someone, that doesn't add much is any romantic value to their relationship.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
True, but your original claim is that he hated her. He did not.

I do not deny she reacted in annoying ways, such as daring her to come get her. But I think Relena haters may have possibly transferred their feelings of hatred for her onto a guy who grew to respect her and eventually went on to rescue her (more than once, actually). Oh, and marry her.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
that should read "daring him to come get her" obviously...

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, but a canon romance doesn't mean it's not a bad one. Relena haters went way over-board absolutely, but that relationship was overall pretty terrible if you ask me. I'm really not a fan of 'wear them down until they date you' type of relationships, and that was a big one.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-01 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
This is completely different argument, but I'll bite.

I don't see how it was her "wearing him down." Maybe the first couple of times, when they were physically near one another, she approached him. But after that, he was always the one coming back to her. The reason he changed his mind about her is because of who she is, and not because of anything she said or did personally directed at him. They actually spend long periods of time apart, doing their own thing.

As for whether or not it's a terrible relationship, that's all a matter of opinion. I don't find it any more "terrible" than the other relationships on the show, if it in fact is terrible.
