Does she have something in her mouth in that far left pic?

The character was physically deformed before getting a magical makeover. But yeah, she kinda looked like she had a jawbreaker in her mouth.

The problem with 'ugly to beautiful transformation' in shows/movies is that the makers usually can't bear to have the 'transformed' character be less than Hollywood Amazing, so they start out with someone who is in no way unattractive and try to sell this big transformation, which rarely works.

If they wanted to go with 'regular human attractive', it might work a lot better.

Or use two different actors, maybe, who knows....

Seconding this completely. Two different actors would have been the best choice to show the degree which she can disguise herself.
They could have at least added some prosthetics to her features to make her look disfigured, but of course they didn't bother. I'm just surprised they didn't take the usual route and give her fuzzy hair and some glasses as the before transformation.

If there ever was a perfect opportunity to cast someon plain-looking and then "transform" her into a different, stunning actress, it was the one.

Well, I agree that "luminously beautiful" describes that actress IRL.

It's always like this - remember how Anne Hathaway was supposedly unacceptable looking because she had slightly curly hair and a pair of glasses in the Princess Diaries?

She looks like a female antagonist type character in a 90s Bollywood movie in the middle picture. The styling really does her a disservice.

I thought she was ugly to begin with so theres not much to go on...
