Fanfic. I have various theories as to why but none of them really explain it. I mean, there are still plenty of fandoms that I'm interested in (discuss them in various places, have my favorite ships, look up pics/interviews of them, etc.) but for whatever reason reading fic just doesn't interest me anymore, it's weird.

It's actually kind of the opposite for me - I'm still really into fanfic, it's just hard for me to find fandoms and ships that I'm really into and want to read fanfic about.

I don't think it's a lack of interest though, I think it's just hard for me to find new stuff to get into in general, and even harder for it to line up with what fandom is into. It's really rather frustrating.

That's kind of one of my theories. I feel like the longer I've been in fandom, the pickier I've gotten. My absolute favorite ships are rarepairs and there's not any fic for them...I feel like if I could find fic for those ships I would read anything and everything. But with the popular ships, it's like, yeah, I like them, but I don't LOVE them, and if I'm going to read fic it needs to be basically perfect by my standards and of course that almost never happens.

DA

This is a major thing for me lately. Even when I find a game/show I really like, or characters I like to see interact, they've been steadily not what I tend to read fic/get into fandom for.
It sucks since I'd actually love to read fic about certain pairs, but I don't interpret them the same way most of the fandom does, so I don't bother even looking.

Late but yeah, that's definitely a part of it for me, too. Very, very rarely can I find a fic where the author seems to see the characters/relationship the same way I do, and it's been a long time since the last one.

I've also lost interest in fanfic for some of my favorite ships because I drifted apart from former friends who wrote fanfics about my favorite ships. I tried to reread their old fanfics but it felt bittersweet. Plus it got awkward when I used to run a fanblog and some recommended certain fic authors who I haven't talked to in years.

I know the feeling, it really sucks. Sending you my love!

Me too. I still look for fic frequently, but I almost never finish reading any of it. I usually quit after a few paragraphs.
