Big Same! I've been especially critical on things like this lately. It's always the same characters making the same mistakes every time! Nearly no one even says anything, or is still surprised that it keeps happening. I've just lost my patience with it.

GODS yes. It's especially infuriating when (as in, say, the Walking Dead), it's pointed out and discussed and ridiculed, and the writers/producers/directors just seem to...not even care.

I mean - consider Prometheus, where a supposedly smart, learned scientists TAKES OFF HIS HELMET and talks to a weird, alien snake-looking thing as if it were a puppy, bending over it and cooing. I mean, seriously, these are the best and brightest? Who fucking DOES THAT?

I'm a scientist. I work with other scientists. Everything about that is completely believable, because in my experience any scientist who hasn't worked with someone who completely boneheadedly disregards reasonable safety procedures either in a fit of "ooh, cool thing!" or because they're "saving time" by not putting on protective equipment is that someone.

And the smarter they are, the more spectacular their dumbass moments are going to be.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
I still despise it as a plot point. Make it a side-plot thing or something but for the love of gods! I would really hope that the people who are *not* 'that scientist' would' while out in the 'verse on some other freakin' *planet*, at least step up and say something or smack them about the head or *something*.

That's one thing i liked about the movie 'Contagion' - everyone was very careful, in their suits, wearing masks, being *smart*. It all still happened, but not because some dumbass decided to juggle plague samples or whatever.
