If everyone who gave a fuck about Rowling's tweets actually canceled her, she'd still be a multi-millionare.

Everyone here wouldn't be a blip in her quarterly accounting reports.

If cancel culture can happen to millionaires, it will happen to the less privileged, and it has. It needs to stop not because it won't harm everyone it happens to, but because it will inevitably harm many others if it's considered acceptable at all.

"If cancel culture can happen to millionaires, it will happen to the less privileged"

Then they should try not being shitty people?

Here's how it really went down:

"I disagree with Rowling's tweets..."

"OMG, CANCEL CULTURE!"

If you post your opinion online, people will have differing opinions. The sky isn't falling because of last week's twitter storm.

So basically you're saying people can't make the decision, based on their own morals, which people/companies to support?

I mostly agree, but I'm unclear on exactly what we're supposed to be boycotting. Grindlewald was over a year ago. FB3 isn't even in production yet, and few people can afford the theme park. Exactly what does "canceling" mean here? Not doing a weekly dump of Snapewife fic to AO3?

The Advocate ran an op ed, oh my stars and garters the inhumanity!

This. I'm sure she's crying all the way to the bank.
