So what does this show actually look like? Every secret I see has completely different artwork, and by now (after I don't know how many different secrets) I'd think there's be something that isn't fanart.

Thanks! I actually didn't expect it to be animated like that. It reminds me more of a Tales game than anything. Interesting to know!

Yeah, Roosterteeth's animation department started out with "machinima" (using the Halo game engine to act out scenes) and they later hired Monty Oum, known for Haloid and Dead Fantasy, to take that concept to the next level and animate the models themselves. RWBY was Monty's baby, and used original designs in the same way. I highly recommend looking up the original four RWBY trailers, starting with "Red", to see Monty's hand more directly.
