It's been said (not sure of the source/truthiness) that the Banana Republic outfit is a one time thing, showing that there's a classic nice guy under all the fauxhawk and piercings. So. Perhaps not so much undermining?
I didn't it was great either, really, but cute.

Which is why we see him again at the "wedding" (obviously much later if Jenn & Fuzzy are all comfy together & Noah's in attendance) still prepped up, clean shaven and without piercings.

Nuh uh, aint buying it.

Maybe it's his only nice outfit? I don't think those two little bits have to mean he's given up who he is entirely.

Unfortunately, they didn't do or show anything in the movie to give us evidence of that, so either way you look at it...badly written.

The best thing about the movie - Jensen was so damn adorable as Priestly.

i haven't seen the movie, but i do know that if the film makers put him in a preppy outfit 2 times at the end of the movie, and presented it positively, that was the message they were trying to get across. speculating about what the characters might do is all fine and good - that's what fandom is all about. but, questioning what the filmmakers meant by portraying his character as unambiguously as they seemed to do within the context of the movie is like trying argue that the writer wanted you to think that when rhett said 'frankly my dear, i don't give a damn' in gone with the wind he was just joking.

but hey, maybe you saw a layer everyone else didn't. i haven't seen it yet, so i don't know.
