sorry if i came across as kneejerk and insulting. i think i should have rephrased my comment. but i did not make it rashly, and i did think about what you wrote - the point i was trying to make was that if people are turning to jon stewart and the daily show for news, it isn't his fault, it's the fault of the traditional news services failing to provide the news, frankly. i think a lot of young people especially find stewart's 'smug', as you say, liberal spin on the news refreshing, and more in tune with their opinions and how they see the world than the big news channels. you can't blame that on him.

besides, a lot of the 24 hour news channels are padded with filler commentary that doesn't actually provide any more information on an issue anyway, so i don't see that much of a problem with someone knowing what's going on in the news at the moment then getting a bit of light-hearted satirical commentary on it from jon stewart.

I AGREE WITH THIS COMMENT SO HARD I HAD TO TYPE IT OUT IN ALL CAPS.
