Positive Things :)

Just because I've realised that I've only complained in the last few threads, let's try and find the positive things - so...
... today, my classes went well and I had a student have a "aha" moment :D Yay!

Got a shower and am in my toasty bed, feeling all warm and clean, yay! Also got my W2 in the mail, so a refund is closer! Got some writing done, which is awesome, since i've been less than inspired, and got a wee b-day giftie off in the mail to my bff. :D

We're finally getting a raise at work woooo! Amount and when is TBD, but about 4-5 years back we were told we needed to 'top up' our education, as well as take a test that would regulate us ($1500), and pay yearly dues (~$500) to keep up our licenses.

... then got told that after doing all this (mandatory to keep our jobs) that we didn't need/deserve any compensation even though it increased our scope of practice and responsibilities...

Our boss as well as the managers/union leaders (we're not unionized) kept fighting and lobbying that it was ridiculous, and FINALLYYYYYY we got news today that we'll get a raise! The staff at unionized hospitals will get retro to June 2016, but even if we don't get that (unlikely as we are not unionized), we're still getting a raise woo! :D

My cat was very cuddly today. We spent a lot of time together. She kept coming to my bed for attention. It was sweet and she's precious and I love her.

Awwwh. Our cat has taken to flopping into the crook of my arm with his head on my chest while I'm asleep. It's really nice to just wake up with an armful of happy cat.

Dawwww. That sounds adorable and the best way to wake up. Mostly my girl sleeps at the foot of my bed and then wakes me up by poking or nipping my feet. But she was all over me today. She was climbing over my bed, my papers, my computer, everything. She just wanted attention from me and wanted to let me know. It was very cute.

I'm glad your classes when well and your student is doing good! I went and did the paperwork for my health card today, something I kept putting off because I needed my passport to do it and I kept forgetting to bring it with me when I went out. I'm hoping my picture turned out fine, I was in a rush so I didn't have time to put my makeup on perfectly, but I'm very glad to finally get the done with!

I realized that I have enough money saved up for more German lessons. Part of it will have to come from my tax return, so I haven't called the tutoring place yet, but I'm happy just with the idea right now.

Well done, nonny! That must feel really rewarding. :)

I sent off my uni application the other day. It's a positive but I'm a bag of nerves right now, I dropped out of my last course ten years ago because of an assault and everyday feel like I wasted an opportunity. Really hope I get another chance.

I treated myself to buying the paperback of The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters on Amazon last night and it should arrive on Saturday. I have high hopes for it!
