You don't get to insult someone and expect them not to respond. A person being famous doesn't give you a free pass to say whatever you want and they just have to take it. That's not how saying things to people works.

Right. But I guess I expected professional behavior from John.

NAYRT—I dunno, I’ve seen an actor respond to someone saying their favorite band sucked with, basically, “fuck off,” and I didn’t think they were being unprofessional, because I think at the point where people are deliberately trying to get a rise out of someone on social media they’re pretty much justified in saying “fuck off, idgaf about you or your opinion.” And in JB’s case I think it’s more, idk, icky to expect him to always be professional about racist shit lobbed his way. Was all of the stuff he was responding to racist? No, but some was.

i just don't agree with the idea that celebs aren't allowed to react to rude comments at all or be seen as unprofessional. they're strangers, they don't get to be used as punching bags when we feel like it, they are in fact allowed to tell us to fuck off when we're crossing a line. and ppl sending him constant messages for days over a stupid joke meme is 100% crossing the line.

they're not our friends and they do not in fact owe it to us to put up with fan bullshit.
